Privacy Policy

Photsy reads the sources you give it access to: your Photos library, screenshots, Downloads and any folder you add. Everything it learns about them stays on your Mac.

• Text recognition, scene labels, Smart Search, face grouping and titles all run on your Mac.
• The search index and thumbnails are stored only on your Mac.
• Photsy reads your Photos library but never changes it. Files are only renamed, moved or trashed when you ask.
• Photos stored only in iCloud are not downloaded unless you turn that on.

Photsy only connects to the internet for these things:

• License checks. When you activate, and about once a day after that, Photsy sends your license key and its activation ID to our payment provider, Dodo Payments, to confirm the license is valid.
• Update checks. Photsy checks GitHub Releases for new versions. Like any web request, this includes your IP address and the app version.
• Smart Search model. Right after you activate, Photsy downloads its on-device Smart Search model (about 170 MB) from GitHub, once.
• Apple services you already use. If you turn on iCloud downloads, photos stored only in iCloud are fetched through Apple's Photos framework. The photo map loads map tiles from Apple Maps.

Your photos, screenshots, file names, search terms and index never leave your Mac. The app has no analytics and no accounts.

Payments are handled by Dodo Payments, our merchant of record. We receive your email address, your country and the details of your order so we can deliver your license and help you with it. We never see your card details.

The Photsy website (not the app) uses Vercel Web Analytics to understand how people find and use it: pages visited, where visitors came from, their country and device type, downloads and purchases. It doesn't use cookies and doesn't identify you.

We use this only to improve the website. We don't sell it or use it for advertising.

You can block the website's analytics with any content blocker. To ask what we hold about you, or to have it deleted, email support@photsy.app.
